I am so blessed and privileged that God used me to organize the Central Virginia Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.®. I have always believed there is no higher calling than to be of service to others. By living and working with a spirit of service, we have an opportunity to leave a great legacy to the world. At a young age, I was taught to be a service to all and give to others. My mother was my first and most influential model of servant leadership. My mother was constantly in the service of others. She always gave back, whether preparing cakes for a church gathering or attending a community social event, or working in her profession as a Registered Nurse. My mother always worked for the service of others. As a child, my mother urged me to "leave the world a little better than I found it"— a belief I embrace, so the question was the same as it is now: Are my efforts and works improving the lives of others?

The Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.® has provided an exemplary model for community service since its chartering in 1964, focusing on five major thrusts, including the Top Teens of America ℠, programming for senior citizens, community beautification, improvement of the status of women, and community partnerships. As a public service organization, the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.® has worked hard to make a positive difference in the community. The community in the Central Virginia area is still facing a litany of problems and severe economic and social issues that persist in the community. True to the mission of community service, the members of the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.® Central Virginia Chapter are committed to serving the surrounding areas through community service and enriching the citizens of Central Virginia through volunteering, service projects, scholarships, including the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), United Negro College Fund (UNCF), National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Sickle Cell Disease Awareness (SCDA), The American Heart Association, and The American Cancer Society. Our mission remains the same to provide quality service to youth and adults. We are here to SERVE!! Three of my favorite quotes are listed below.

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” - Helen Keller

“Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” - Mark 10:45
